Detroit, (December 22, 2020) – The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) has released a new concert streaming app for Apple iOS devices, Apple TV, Roku, and coming soon to Amazon’s Fire TV. DSO Digital Concerts have been acclaimed in the press this fall, most recently in Sunday’s New York Times story on orchestras that are presenting new online video content during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new Live from Orchestra Hall app allows users to view all currently available DSO online video—over 200 new and archival performances—including concerts recorded in 4K Ultra High Definition since 2019. Users can also create their own playlists and sync (save) performances for offline viewing. The DSO has created specially curated playlists on the app, including African American composers, women composers, the music of John Williams, serenades conducted by Music Director Jader Bignamini, new music, and encores.
A leader in the world of orchestral webcasting since 2011, the DSO launched a new streaming series, DSO Digital Concerts, in September with both live and on-demand performances available for two weeks at dso.org. Subscribers and donors receive access to all DSO Digital Concerts, with single tickets available for purchase. DSO Replay—the orchestra’s archive of past webcasts—is free for all to view at dso.org/replay.

The DSO has kept the music playing in 2020 with over 20,000 views of DSO Digital Concerts since September. Through innovations such as a comprehensive testing partnership with Henry Ford Health System and a new extended stage in Orchestra Hall, the DSO can continue to safely present live music every week during the 2020-2021 concert season.
