This Sunday’s free concert, Salute to America in Orchestra Hall, is cancelled

- Salute to America: Summer Stroll at Greenfield Village to proceed as planned, June 30 – July 3

- DSO to webcast past Americana and patriotic classics on dso.org in its place on July 4

Detroit, (June 30, 2021) – The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) today announced that its free concert, Salute to America in Orchestra Hall, scheduled for this Sunday, July 4 at 3 p.m. has been cancelled. The recent extreme weather and rain overwhelmed the Detroit storm drain system and as a result caused flooding and water damage at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center, largely confined to the basement levels. Assessments are underway, but out of an abundance of caution the DSO has closed the building until further notice. As a result, the DSO unfortunately must cancel this Sunday’s concert.

In its place, the DSO will webcast past Americana and patriotic favorites on dso.org at 3 p.m. The June 30 through July 3 Salute to America: Summer Stroll events at Greenfield Village featuring DSO musicians, presented by The Henry Ford in partnership with the DSO, will proceed as planned.

DSO patrons should follow dso.org and social media for additional updates.
