Lizz Wright concert in Orchestra Hall postponed from August 13 to October 8 to kick off 2021-22 Paradise Jazz Series

Detroit, (August 5, 2021) – The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) today announced that the upcoming Paradise Jazz Series concert by acclaimed singer Lizz Wright, originally scheduled for Friday, August 13, has been postponed to Friday, October 8, 2021 due to the ongoing closure of the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center. As previously announced, extreme weather and rain on June 25 caused flooding and water damage at The Max, largely confined to the basement levels. While assessments and clean-up are underway, the DSO has closed the building to the public out of an abundance of caution.

The rescheduled concert by Lizz Wright on October 8 will now officially kick off the 2021-22 Paradise Jazz Series, commemorating 80 years since Orchestra Hall reopened as the Paradise Theatre, which launched a decade of concerts by jazz greats at the height of the big band era. The rest of the upcoming Paradise Jazz Series will be announced on August 26.
