2021 Ford Musician Awards for Excellence in Community Service Recipient Jeremy Crosmer

The DSO congratulates cellist Jeremy Crosmer, one of just five orchestra musicians from across the U.S. to receive a Ford Musician Award for Excellence in Community Service from the League of American Orchestras. Jeremy earned the award for his work on the DSO’s partnership with the Creative Expressions program at Kadima, an Oakland County nonprofit that provides comprehensive residential, therapeutic, social, and enrichment services to adults with mental health needs. His work will be recognized at the 2021 League Conference Online, June 7-17, 2021. Supported by Ford Motor Company Fund, the awards recognize professional musicians’ deeply impactful work outside the concert hall, much of it virtual this year due to the pandemic.

Since 2016, 25 professional orchestra musicians from across the country have received the Ford Musician Awards for Excellence in Community Service from the League of American Orchestras.

Made possible through the generosity of Ford Motor Company Fund, the awards recognize professional musicians’ deeply impactful work outside of the concert hall, much of it virtual this year due to the pandemic.

The honorees receive their awards at the League’s National Conference, and are also featured in a session highlighting their inspiring education and community engagement work.

Jeremy holds space for the Kadima Musicians to become empowered through expression and finds a way to support them—however that expression takes form—whether that’s playing an instrument, singing, or just being part of the group. ”
