Join us for a Classical Roots adventure in partnership with the Michigan Science Center!
This family-friendly event brings together music, science, and culture.
Through interactive STEM activities and live musical moments, families will explore the science of sound and music, while celebrating the important contributions of African American composers, musicians, and innovators to classical music. Designed for learners of all ages, the event offers a welcoming and playful introduction to classical music, with no prior experience required.
Families will enjoy over 220 exhibits and hands-on experiences at the Michigan Science Center, along with live musical moments provided by the DSO.
Families will explore and enjoy:
Hands-on STEM activities focused on sound and music;
Interactive demonstrations that show how music works;
Mini concerts and live musical moments;
Musical activations that blend learning, performance, and play.
Tickets are $23 and may be purchased above or on the Michigan Science Center’s website. Note: please ensure you have selected February 7, 2026 when purchasing tickets.
