Conductor Delyana Lazarova leads the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with soloist Jonathan Biss, whose clarity and expressive nuance bring warmth and wit to one of Beethoven’s most joyful works. Mendelssohn’s "Italian" Symphony bursts with sunlit color and infectious energy, inspired by the landscapes, grand architecture, and lively dances he encountered during his travels in Italy.
