Please join hosts Dr. Margo and Jim Farber with special guest, Dr. Larry Sherman for an evening filled with music and discussion to learn why every brain needs music! Dr. Sherman will be joined by DSO musicians and a jazz ensemble to present the positive impacts that listening and playing music has on the brain.

Dr. Sherman’s book, Every Brain Needs Music: The Neuroscience of Making and Listening to Music, draws on leading behavioral, cellular, and molecular neuroscience research as well as surveys of more than 100 musical people. It provides new perspectives on learning to play and teaching; and provides insight on how to practice and perform, the ways we react to music, and why the brain benefits from musical experiences.
