Florence Price was the first female African American composer to have her work performed by a major American orchestra. Her Piano Concerto in One Movement premiered in Chicago in 1934, with Price herself at the piano. Acclaimed soloist Michelle Cann joins the DSO to perform this long-neglected masterpiece, with Singaporean conductor Kahchun Wong on the podium. Also featured on the program is Rachmaninoff’s romantic Second Symphony.

This performance is only available as part of a 2021-2022 William Davidson Neighborhood Concerts subscription package. Subscribe today at dso.org/neighborhood.
