Rachmaninoff: Symphony No. 2
Rachmaninoff: Symphony No. 2
Thursday, April 28 – Sunday, May 1, 2022
Florence Price was the first female African American composer to have her work performed by a major American orchestra. Her Piano Concerto in One Movement premiered in Chicago in 1934, with Price herself at the piano. Acclaimed soloist Michelle Cann joins the DSO to perform this long-neglected masterpiece, with Singaporean conductor Kahchun Wong on the podium. Also featured on the program is Rachmaninoff’s romantic Second Symphony.
UPDATED MASK POLICY: Effective March 28, 2022, masks are optional for all patrons attending events at The Max and other DSO venues. Proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 or a negative COVID-19 test for all guests is still required upon entry. Visit dso.org/safetyplan for the latest updates.
