FAQs

Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings at the Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center. The DCE Orchestra will rehearse from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., while the DCE Concert Band will rehearse from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m.*

Concerts occur three times per year, as indicated on the DCE Concert Band and Orchestra Calendars.*

No! Anyone with at least two years of playing experience is welcome to join the orchestra or the band, regardless of how long it's been since you last played.

Interested woodwind and brass musicians may need to audition for a seat if they wish to participate in full orchestra. Orchestral wind players will be asked to rehearse and perform with the band as well.

Membership dues for the full DCE season (September through April) are $200. Payment plans and financial aid are available.

Music will be available to download electronically one week prior to the beginning of each concert cycle. Physical copies of the music will also be provided to DCE musicians at the first rehearsal of each cycle.

You can find digital copies of the music by visiting the DCE Library page.

While it is important for DCE musicians to attend rehearsals regularly to prepare for each performance, we understand other obligations can make attending every rehearsal difficult. There is no attendance requirement to participate, however excessive absences will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

Unfortunately, no, but we may be able to point you in the right direction.
