The DSO seeks qualified candidates to serve as CYE Mentors for the 2019-2020 Season. CYE Mentors will assist students by leading sectionals, assisting with musician part assignments, working directly with ensemble directors, and performing with ensembles during CYE’s annual concerts. CYE Mentors are provided a monthly stipend and the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in teaching and performance to help grow their resumes as they pursue careers in music.

To qualify for a CYE Mentor position, you must be a current student at or recent graduate from a university music program with the completion of at least four semesters. Those interested should submit all materials by 5 PM on Friday, August 2, 2019.

Positions are available for all string, woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. Positions are also available to assist with our jazz ensembles. Mentors must be available for all rehearsals and concerts as outlined in their individual schedules. CYE Classical Mentors will report for a predetermined shift between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays. CYE Jazz Mentors will report from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Monday. All rehearsals occur at the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center in Midtown Detroit. Mentors are responsible for their own transportation to and from all services. Parking passes will be provided for the season.

Applications for 2019-2020 CYE Mentor Positions have closed. Be sure to check back in January of 2020 for information on how to apply for a mentor position for the 2020-2021 CYE Season.
