Concert Description

Full of dramatic tension and beauty, Handel’s Messiah is among the most revered oratorios of all time, and a long-standing musical tradition at Christmas. Messiah was an immediate hit, due especially to Handel’s rising fame, and its premiere drew such a remarkable crowd that attendees were advised to leave hoop skirts and swords at home to save space. Hear for yourself as Ruth Reinhardt conducts the DSO and fills Orchestra Hall with Handel’s sounds of exaltation.
