Concert Description

This Musical Feast will take place in the Detroit loft home of Margie Dunn and Mark Davidoff. The loft is in the 1924 Carlton Plaza Hotel, designed by Detroit architect Louis Kamper. It neighbors the historic Paradise Theater which in now home to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. The Paradise Theater showcased such jazz artists as Ella, Lady Day, The Count, and The Duke. The hotel was an upscale spot for the visiting African American jazz lovers and performers of this era. Now known as Carlton Lofts, the building has been restored as a new urban space featuring one of the most scenic skylines in Detroit.

Bill Lucas, a member of the DSO trumpet section, will be joined by pianist Phil Kelly for an evening of jazz music.
