Concert Description
Sergei Rachmaninoff declared, "I try to make my music speak simply and directly that which is in my heart." Makoto Ozone, equally renowned for his jazz improvisations, plays the ravishing Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. In addition to a world premiere by Juliet Palmer, most recent recipient of the DSO’s Elaine Lebenbom Memorial Award for Female Composers, the “other” concerto on these concerts showcases the virtuosity of the entire DSO, as Leonard Slatkin concludes the season with Bartok’s dazzling Concerto for Orchestra.
