Concert Description

A member of a jazz legacy that has shaped the contours of modern jazz today, New Orleans native Terence Blanchard has established himself as one of the most influential jazz musicians and film score masters of his generation. With more than 31 CDs to his credit, over 50 film scores, and the Jazz Opera “Champion”, Blanchard is a five-time Grammy Award winner and the recipient of a Golden Globe nod.

Blanchard is no stranger to the Orchestra Hall stage - in his second year as the DSO’s Jazz Chair, he returns with his quintet plus special guests and Blue Note label mates saxophonist Ravi Coltrane and Benin-born guitar virtuoso Lionel Loueke featuring music from his new CD “Magnetic.”
