With a career spanning more than 30 years performing around the globe, renowned violinist Cho-Liang Lin brings the sounds of South America to Detroit in Argentine composer Lalo Schifrin's seductive Tangos Concertantes. Music Director Leonard Slatkin conducts Mendelssohn's "Reformation" Symphony.

Leonard Slatkin, conductor  Bio

Internationally renowned conductor Leonard Slatkin began his tenure as Music Director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 2008. In addition, Maestro Slatkin is the Music Director of the Orchestre National de Lyon, a position he has held since 2011. He is highly regarded for his historic leadership of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra from 1979 to 1996 and his tenure as Music Director of the National Symphony Orchestra from 1996 to 2008. He has also served as Chief Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and held Principal Guest Conductor positions with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

Cho-Liang Lin, violin   Bio
Performing on several continents, Cho-Liang Lin appears as soloist with orchestras of Dallas, Toronto, Houston, Nashville, and Detroit; in Europe with the Bergen Philharmonic, Stockholm Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, and the English Chamber Orchestra and in Asia with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony, Malaysia Philharmonic and Bangkok Symphony. As an advocate new music, Mr. Lin has collaborated with Tan Dun, Joel Hoffman, John Harbison, Christopher Rouse,, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Lalo Schifrin, Paul Schoenfield, Bright Sheng, and Joan Tower. An avid chamber musician, Mr. Lin appears at the Beijing Music Festival, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Aspen Music Festival, and Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival.
