Leonard Slatkin

Internationally acclaimed American conductor Leonard Slatkin began his appointment as Music Director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in September of 2008. He was recently named Music Director of the Orchestre National de Lyon (ONL), France, beginning with the 2011-12 season. In addition, Mr. Slatkin continues to serve as Principal Guest Conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, a post that began in the fall of 2008.

Gabriela Montero


Gabriela Montero’s visionary interpretations and unique improvisational gifts have won her a quickly expanding audience and devoted following around the world. As an enthusiastic improviser, Gabriela often invites her audience to participate in asking for a melody for improvisation on stage. Ms. Montero has transformed her improvisations into compositions by composing a new work called ExPatria for piano and orchestra, which premiered in London and on tour in Germany with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields orchestra during her 2011/2012 season.
Ms. Montero’s various engagements include acclaimed performances with the New York Philharmonic, LA Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Rotterdam Philharmonic among others. She has also recorded variations of Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Bach, and Liszt for EMI Classics.
