Concert Description

The Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra will present the fifth concert of the 2013–14 season at Orchestra Hall in Detroit on March 25 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature piano soloist WMU faculty member Lori Sims, composer Cindy McTee, and guest conductor Leonard Slatkin of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Admission is free. The orchestra will perform McTee’s Timepiece for Orchestra, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto Number 3 in D Minor featuring Sims, and Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphoses on Themes of Carl Maria von Weber. Three conductors will take the podium including WMU graduate assistant Jeffrey Spenner, Professor Bruce Uchimura, and Leonard Slatkin. This concert is part of the year long celebration of the100th Anniversary of the School of Music.
